Vineyards and Winery

The winery has been the life-long dream and passion of Bruno's son, Gianni. A graduate of the Cerletti school of Enology, he also persued a bachelor's degree in Agriculture from the university of Padua. He received a bachelor's degree in Viticulture, Enology and Marketing of Wines from the same university, never leaving behind his dream to realize his own winery. The result is ColBel, where his love for tradition mingles with his real zeal to present his wines to future generations.

ColBel means beautiful hill in the local venetan dialact, and winemaker Gianni Teo never considered another name for his winery.  In this simple and gentle landscape that he calls home, the hills, sun and soils come together to create a unique microclimate which permits the perfect expression of the glera grape historically grown in this area and used in the production of our Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco wines.

Winegrape growing has been a tradition in Gianni's family for over three generations; in fact, the heart of the vineyard acreage has been managed by the family since his grandfather Giusto's days. The quantity of land has increased under the management of his father Bruno, but today ColBel is still considered a small, family-owned business.

ColBel winery and vineyards are located in the heart of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG production area.  This is the traditional production area for the variety formerly known as 'prosecco', now called 'glera'.  The name 'prosecco' is now reserved for Conegliano-Valdobbiadene wines coming from this historical production area.  With a respect for tradition and a knowledge of modern enological and viticultural techniches, Gianni Teo, ColBel founder, is proud to present the fruits of his passion, hoping they are pleasing to your palatte.
